Fleece Throw Blanket

Fleece is the workhorse of winter textiles, and this large drape from VELORA is the version worth owning. It is generously cut, so it covers a sofa properly rather than stopping halfway across, and the weight sits in the useful middle ground between a thin throw that does nothing and a quilt that is too much indoors. It is the throw that ends up permanently on the back of the sofa rather than folded away in a cupboard.

The fabric is a high quality brushed fleece, soft on both faces and warm immediately rather than needing to be warmed up first. Forty five size and colour combinations are available, which is unusually broad, so you can match an existing scheme rather than settling for the nearest neutral. It drapes cleanly over furniture instead of holding creases.

Care is genuinely simple. Machine wash cool, tumble on low, and it comes out ready to use without ironing or reshaping. Fleece does not absorb water the way cotton does, so it dries fast, which makes it practical in a house with children or pets. Keep it clear of portable heaters, fireplaces and candles, and do not use it as infant bedding. Fleece also holds no odour the way wool can, which matters in a room where a dog is allowed on the furniture.
